What's the deal? School Admin, can you shed any light on this?

Before my oldest daughter took her current job she had worked several years as writer/producer for local news stations in Dayton, Cincinnati, and San Diego.  I would always tease her and say “Remember, your job is to write and produce the news… not be the news”.    Now I find myself in the news and people are asking what is going on.  Not much has been said except for what was in the on-line news story today so I am sure it leaves room for a lot of speculation.  I have posted on this forum before to help everyone better understand school decisions and policy so this is no different.  However, it is a little awkward because it is about me.

Early in the year, I asked for a one-year extension of my contract in order that I could be in the Northwood School for the first two years of the transition into a K-5 elementary. Unfortunately, that request has been denied. There is nothing that I have done wrong; my last job evaluation was fine. I have simply been told the BOE wants to go in a different direction.

I have had a great twenty years serving the students and families of Sidney High School and Northwood. I was blessed with the opportunity to come to Northwood when I retired from the high school six years ago. Since that time the district has seen quite a bit of turmoil. I trust that my contributions have helped keep some consistency and stability for both the district and Northwood. I have enjoyed a wonderful thirty-six year career working with over 10,000 students and their families during that time. Working the last six years at Northwood created new challenges and recharged me as an educator. This last year has been a real joy working with the younger students who get such a thrill out of learning. I am forever grateful for this opportunity late in my career.

Did it have to do with the double dipping?

Mike -

As I said, I was only told they are going in a different direction.  Perhaps some day it will all be more clear to me.

If you were to speculate, would that be your guess?

Sorry, Mike... I try not to share my speculations publically. Many times my speculations don't pan out... a couple recent examples would be my NCAA brackets and NASCAR fantasy team.  Smiley

RT asked me what was going on so I have shared my thoughts.  I really don't think is is necessary for me to say more or speculate.  Time to move forward.

Greg, I'd suggest trying to get a 95 million dollar deal on the Champions Tour. You'd give us average duffers something to dream about.

@School Adm., I have always appreciated your information on this forum with regards to schooling issues.

Are you planning to stay in the area?  If so, I hope you stay on this forum to give your thoughts on any given issue.  You do not have to be part of the administration to have an opinion  and I for one would like to hear your take on any given topic.

Thanks for your service to the area, please continue to address any other questions on this forum too.
